Our school opened in 1989. Prior to this the school was located in the town land of Cahergal which is only a few minutes' walk from our current school. This old school served the people of the community for 104 years!
Many of the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents of our current pupils attended the old school. Our principal’s grandparents and father attended there also.
There were many differences between the old school and our new school as we can see from the photos over the years.
The old school is now a private residence.
Our new school took about three years to build. It is a bright building with four spacious classrooms, a large hall, many toilets, a kitchen, a staff room, an office and many storage spaces.
In January 2011 our school moved to the local community hall for two weeks while the roof of our school was replaced. This was a unique experience and amazingly we were only gone for two weeks, as the weather obliged and stayed dry!
Did you know?
On the days around the Winter Solstice (December 21st), the sun shines directly through the main corridor from one door to the other, illuminating it at midday each day!
